1) Weaving is a process in which you create tracks on the individual's head and
sew the extensions onto the tracks.
2) Greatlengths is a process in which you add extensions by bonding them in
one strand at a time.
3) Braiding is a process in which you add extension by braiding them in.
4) Dreadlocks are clusters of uncombed hair that grow intermingle and mat together.
A FEW VARIATIONS OF EXTENSIONS, BRAIDS & DREADS WHICH JAMAICAN BRAIDS SPECIALIZE IN:
Weaving is a braid-and-sew method used to attach human hair extensions
to the natural hair to add length, volume, color, or texture. You will want to use a high
quality human hair on the weft to add length, volume, color, or texture. Schedule a free
consultation if you are interested in this type of extension and order your human hair
in advance to assure we have the correct color and length for your appointment.
Greatlengths is an extremely high-tech method of bonding between the Great Lengths
strand and your own hair. This point of attachment is composed of polymer chains whose molecular
structure is very similar to that of human hair. It is activated by our Great Lengths applicator
and bonds the Great Lengths strand with your own hair in this way. However it can be easily
removed by an expert.
Individual Braids are a section of hair created by systematically
intertwining three sections of synthetic hair together to hang from the scalp.
We usually add synthetic hair to these braids in order to add length, volume, color,
or texture. Your natural hair must be at least 2-3 inches long in order to attach the braids.
Micro Braidsare a small section of hair created by systematically intertwining
three sections of human hair together to hang from the scalp. These tiny braids are usually
braided only part way in order to create a natural looking hairstyle. We usually add
human hair to these braids in order to add length, volume, color, or texture.
Your natural hair must be at least 2-3 inches long in order to attach the braids.
Pinch Braids are created by attaching human or synthetic braiding hair
with a pinch braid knot to the natural hair, then braiding it part way down.
We usually add synthetic or human hair to these braids in order to add length,
volume, color, or texture. Your natural hair must be at least 2-3 inches long
in order to attach the braids.
Cornrows are a braid that lays flat against the scalp. We usually add
synthetic hair to these braids in order to add length, volume, color, or texture.
Your natural hair must be at least 5-6 inches long in order to create this type of braids.
Interlocks are a braid-and-interlock method used to attach hair extensions
to the natural hair to add length, volume, color and texture. Your natural hair must
be at least 5-6 inches long in order to create the braids needed to interlock these extensions.
Individual Twist are similar to a braid except two pieces of hair are criss-crossed
to create a rope strand. Your natural hair must be at least 2-3 inches long in order to attach the twist.
Flat Twist are similar to a cornrow, except two pieces of hair are criss-crossed
to create a rope pattern that lies along the scalp. Your natural hair must be at
least 5-6 inches long in order to create this type of twist.
Dread Perms are the best way to start natural dreadlocks. It works on all hair types,
especially on straight, soft curly, or longer hair. We use a comb and our hands to create
dread shapes in the hair and then permanently "perm" them in with a chemical solution.
Dreadlocks are permanent and must be cut short to remove. The dreads are firm
and well formed the first day and continue to grow into dreads. Dreads can easily be
maintained with simple dread maintenance every 2-4 months in the salon.
Silky Dreads allow us to attached synthetic dreadlock extensions to the
natural hair to create custom dreadlocks with any colors, any lengths, and any
sizes to suit personal style. Your natural hair must be at least 3-4 inches long
in order to attach dreadlock extensions. Silky Dread extensions can also be added
to longer hair. Synthetic dreads can be worn on an ongoing basis with simple dread
maintenance every 2-4 months in the salon.
